Review by hotel critic
My recent stay at Marula Lodge in Swellendam was a delightful experience that merged comfort with the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding landscapes. The moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the friendly host, Walter, whose warmth set the tone for our stay-his personal touch in assisting with dinner reservations was particularly appreciated. The lodge itself boasts modern African décor, and our room featured an en suite bathroom along with a charming outdoor seating area that allowed us to soak in the stunning views of the Langeberg Mountain Range. Each morning, we enjoyed a wholesome breakfast on the garden terrace, enriched by the sight of vibrant South African sunbirds visiting the feeders-a delightful spectacle for my daughters and me. The surrounding area offered a plethora of activities. We explored the nearby hiking trails and were enchanted by Bontebok National Park, where we caught sight of the rare Bontebok Antelope-a highlight that blended my passion for nature with quality family time. What truly resonated with me during this stay was the intricate balance of leisure and adventure Marula Lodge effortlessly provides, making it an ideal retreat for families like mine who appreciate nature without sacrificing comfort.
